Kelly Godwin is a model from the Des Moines area. I shot with her recently, and we created some really nice bridal portraits.

This was one of my favorites from the shoot. I think makes for a lovely, mood-setting photo.

I’m really thrilled with the skin color and the detail in the dress. This was lit completely with window light to create a wonderful wrapping light. Nothing beats a big light source, huh?

I used the dress as my reference for the custom white balance. Shot with a Nikon D300 using a Nikon 50mm 1.9 at 1/60s and f2.8, I used Nikon’s Portrait Custom Picture Control to control skin color. If you have one of the newer Nikons (D300, D700, D3 and D3x) and you shoot lots of portraits, you should check it out. The skin tone from it is wonderful.

This is basically right out of the camera. The only post processing of this image was done in Lightroom. I used the adjustment brush on the background to knock the exposure down a little and that was it.
