It’s that time of year again where we start to consider how we will improve ourselves in the coming year. Looking back on 2008, my goal was to shoot more: that happened. It was one of my busiest years shooting models. I had an image hit the cover of a book (see previous posting) and there are two more coming.

So, now what?

Shooting is nice, but if the photos go nowhere, then are they doing any good? I shoot models and actors to provide me material for my own projects, but also to try to help them get real, paying gigs; help them achieve their dreams.

That last several months I’m been reaching out to a couple agencies to help me understand what they are looking for and how they like to see submissions made to them. I’ve also been making contacts within local media. The market, as always, can be tight for them and budgets are small, but there is some work there that my clients might use to cut their teeth on.

So, in 2009 I’m resolving to help my clients reach towards their dreams. I can’t do it alone; they will have to help.  I’m starting with developing some marketing packets that we can use to make a that all important first impression. I can get them to the door; getting through it is up to them.

Here is to a successful 2009.
